How do u compare yourself to people who speak a second language? I speak a second language and I am not quite sure where I am as an English speaking person. I spend a great deal of time reading books, using the computer, and reading the dictionary. For this, I keep on forgetting a lot of words and I always feel overwhelmed . Is this happening to me because of lack of verbal communication with native english speaking people or is it because I speak a second language at home. I came to Canada when I was 20-7=13 years ago and I still feel dissatisfied with my English. Is forgetting words a problem for everyone or just for people like me? What do you suggest me to do about it? Give me as many advises and recommendations as u will. Thank you very much for your time.

or:It is definitely a huge handicap not to talk with English-speaking people - as I also experience with German, which I only took as a high-school subject but have seldom if ever actually used. But where should one look to find new English-speaking friends? And what to discuss with them? Do you have a friendly shop-owner (better still - more than one) near where you live who has a quiet period at the shop at a regular time during the day or evening? Go and find out what he can tell you about the city where you live, his interests, your hobbies (yes, you'll have to give info as well as receive it.)

or:well what you could do is listen to english songs and sing with it also like what you say try practicing it with a native english speaker you can also watch english movies to familiarize yourself with the english idioms and languages
