PICKPOCKETING TROUBLES!!!!?

ooooook......soooooo......i am an Assassins Creed freak.....except i'm having some problem's with pickpocketing. So this is what i have been doing, 1. i stand at a distance and lock on 2. the convo starts up with the two people 3. they finish and one of them walks away wile the other stands there 4. then i blend and walk towards him, 5. he begins walking, and i follow him, still blended 6. i don't pickpocket when he looks back at me, 6. finally i press and hold O (letting of X)wile hes not looking) annnnd he turns around and shoves me!! .....I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON ONE GUY ABOUT 15 TIMES!!!! IN A ROW!!! what the heck am i doing wrong?!

or:you have to let him stop walking before you try to pick pocket him
