I am searching for an LP by Wendy Craig and have yet to find it. The LP was produced in the 70's and contained stories for children. Two of the stories were - "Nail Soup" and "Awongalema".

I have searched online and have found several LP's and recordings narrated by Wendy Craig : Beatrix Potter, Bedtime stories and Lullabies, Listen with Mother, Hans Christian Anderson stories and the Orchard Book of Fairy Tales.

None of these has the Nail Soup or Awongalema on them.

Does anyone have any idea what the LP was called ?

or:HiI had this LP when I was little and loved it. I remember it just being called 'Wendy Craig reads to the children' and that on the cover that she was sitting on the steps of a gipsy caravan with a few children around her. Not sure if this will help you at all as I was googling this title and only came up with your post!, but best of luck.

or:I had this LP too, and adored it. I must have played it to death. It was a collection of traditional children's stories from around the world. As well as 'Ewungelema' from Zambia and 'The Old Lady and the Tramp' (the one you and I remember better as 'Nail Soup') from Sweden, the stories were 'The Bamboo Cutter and the Maid' (Japan), 'Prince Christian and the Pirates' (England), 'The Day the Water Disappeared' (Australia) and 'The Jester who Fooled a King' (Poland). The title of the LP was 'Wendy Craig: In Front of the Children' - in other words, a play on the title of her 1960s television sitcom 'Not in Front of the Children'. It was released in 1970 on the Music for Pleasure label, catalogue number SNIFP1417.I hope this helps!

or:Hi Danny, everyone ..... OMG, OMG, over last few years I have been trying to find anyone who even had story records let alone this, my fave! At the risk of repeating myself ...... OMG! Does anyone have a copy? I did manage to find a copy of Awongalema (I didn't even know how to spell it), but wasn't the same narrator and so not the same impact (nostalgia). \"Precious slender bamboo of the field of autumn\" ...... \"Nail broth\" anyone? Were they even on the same album? well, it was 40 years ago ..... get in touch .....

or:Came online to see if I could find a CD or mp3 download version of this LP and came across this post. I am hoping my dad still has the LP. I will want to knock his block off if he hasn't. I'll ask him and see if I can get it turned into a CD. Fabulous stories I have NEVER forgotten. x Ali

or:Pottering around on a rainy Sunday morning I thought I'd search for this recording. We used to have it as a cassette tape and fooloishly gave it away to someone. Grandchildren are coming along now, and we would love to relive these fantastic stories with them. If anyone is able send us a CD copy of this recording (costs and something for your trouble reimbursed) we would be oh so grateful.

or:I have mp3 versions of Hushabye Mountain and Say Goodnight, created from a good quality single I bought off ebay. Anyway, if anyone wants these, let me know (would appreciate a small PayPal donation for my trouble, but up to you). Hope this helps - my other half loved this single when she was young, and we now have a little one of our own (6 weeks old), so he'll get to know it too :)

or:Hi, I'm also looking for an old Wendy Craig (I think) cassette. I can't remember the names of the stories but one was something like 'melia the middle one' and another one a girl was sent to buy a lettuce for 10p but lost the money, another story was about a happy girl called lucy contrasted with a grumpy friend. The cassette box had a picture of wendy craig in an oversized white blouse sitting in possibly a rocking. I hope someone else remembers this and can maybe give me more details to carry on searching. It would be 70's, early 80's. Thanks :)

or:I have just unpacked an 'attic' box and found the original Wendy Craig album from my childhood. Also an original Walt Disney Junglebook and Snow White album. I thought I was the only person to love the nail soup story!! Memories ....
