Why is he doing this? We were together 3 months in a dating exclusive relationship but he said we?

We stayed that way for 2 mos and then i asked if was going anywhere bc one day he'd be calling and texting and we'd go on a great date then he'd disappear for a couple days. He also made excuses several times for canceling pre arranged plans using dinner w his parents as an excuse. The last day when we had "the friendship talk" he said he didn't have that instant soul mate feeling he had with his ex!!! Who he no longer talks to bc she married someone else. I felt like I was giving wayyyy more of myself then he was giving. If I backed off he was there but only shortly bf disappearing again. We are both in our 30's. Well he says he still wants to be friends and see where it takes us and that he has no intention of seeing anyone else that he just needs some space right now. So i've been giving it to him for 2 weeks now and we've texted twice this week and talked on the phone for 15 min once. I don't know what is going on with him. He said it was his job, he's a cop, and that he didn't think he could give me a relationship right now. MIXED SIGNALS.. He still has our pics on facebook and i asked if I should delete them and he avoided an answer all together so I just left them. HELP!! Should I give up and move on?????????????

or:You should tell him if has ever thought about being with you. If he says no, then say well you have. So, just see if you two will ever be together. If he says he's not ready, then they'll some-what never be a you and him. Then, move on.

or:find out from him if your relationship would go anywhere because if not, you don't want to be wasting your time.
