Description
Accuracy.org, also known as the Institute for Public Accuracy, is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that encourages mainstream media outlets to interview progressive scholars and policy analysts. IPA gains media access for those whose voices are commonly excluded or drowned out by government or corporate-backed institutions. While regularly making it possible for numerous policy analysts, scholars and other independent researchers to be heard in mass media, IPA boosts many progressive grassroots groups with scant resources for media outreach.

We’ve been watching a slow moving train wreck. The concern is that if you don’t declare a state of emergency for a new infectious disease [in the U.S.], we won’t get the resources and the attention we need to really control it. The resources piece is very important because we’re seeing that we’re having a hard time diagnosing among certain groups.     “It’s very good news that the federal government has declared a state of emergency and that other individual states continue to do so. My hope is that it’s going to mark a turn in the response––which has been, if anything, lackluster––toward something more robust.”Blog PostsInternships and Volunteer Positions AvailableJuly 15, 2022 by journalist · Noam Chomsky: "The Institute for Public Accuracy has been regularly providing the media with informed and expert commentary on the crucial events of the day, compensating for the inevitable distortion and significant omissions that trace to reliance on official sources and on a narrow spectrum of opinion, among other factors. Apart from its constructive contributions to media comprehensiveness and accuracy, for individuals who are seeking a better understanding of evolving world events IPA has been an incomparable source of critically important news that had escaped notice or received inadequate or misleading coverage, as well as acute analysis that is hard to find or completely missing in the mainstream. Speaking personally, I have found it invaluable as a source of insight and information, and for leads to pursue that I would otherwise have missed."[more]Amazon Union VoteApril 9, 2021 by sam · MIKE ELK, [email protected], @MikeElkElk i…[more]Stop Tightening the Thumb Screws, A Humanitarian MessageMarch 17, 2020 by journalist · U.S. sanctions against Iran, cruelly strengthened in March of 2018, continue a collective punishment of extremely vulnerable people. Presently, the U.S. “maximum pressure” policy severely undermines Iranian efforts to cope with the ravages of COVID-19, causing hardship and tragedy while contributing to the global spread of the pandemic. Even to define what constitutes evenhandedness and impartiality really would already drag the court well into a political question and a question of how the party runs its own affairs. The party could have favored a candidate. I’ll put it that way... We could have voluntarily decided that, ‘Look, we’re gonna go into back rooms like they used to and smoke cigars and pick the candidate that way.’” (See Newsweek: "Was the Election Rigged Against Bernie Sanders?
