3 legged cat refuses to use a chair to help him onto the bed. Keeps using his claws. Any way I can?

So my cat Leo lost his back leg about 2 years ago. It was a big change but we seemed to have sorted everything out. Until now, I had changed by bedding recently and noticed, that the blankets are getting small holes in them. I guess I didn't notice this with the last bedding because of how dark it was. he can get to the bed just fine. But I just don t want him to start tearing new bedding. I but a chair next to my bed, it slow enough to the ground or him to get onto and high enough so he can just jump up. but he seems to just ignore all of that can continue to claw his way up. Is there any way I can lure him to use the chair or stool?

or:Cats are big into routine as they like things to stay the same and they are not happy with change. If you got new bedding are you sure it feels as secure to the cat. Does it feel slippery, does it move around, is it shorter, is it a different texture, is it less dense so he feels the need to grip harder so he doesnt feel as if he is sliding or falling? What ever his previous security was he apparently doesnt feel that any more.Depending on whether he lost his front leg which inhibits his ability to pull himself up or a hind leg whichinhibits his push off to gain height ability then perhaps as he gets older it is more difficult for his remaining muscles to work as hard as they use to.Would a ramp or set of stairs that you can buy at a pet supply store help then you eliminate the chair. Would a footstool help him get to the chair?Another thing you can do is get a kitty teaser and initiate play and treat time. Drag the kitty teaser along the floor up the chair and then up on the bed. He gets up on the chair get a treat get to the bed get a treat. Repetition and lots of it to embed the routine can also help.Good luck!
