I let ants crawl all over my hands a few times, now my hands are red and once in a while they itch like crazy, I scratch but the itching just doesn't stop. The internet is telling me the ants sprayed "formic acid" on me.Maybe the reason my sratching does not stop the itching is because the "acid" is under my skin? what can I do to get rid of this?

or:Well, I bet you don't ever make that mistake again. If it's acid you can make a paste of baking soda and water to neutralize it.

or:If these ants were indeed formic ants then making a paste of baking soda by mixing baking soda together with water might work. A good way to relieve pain would be to either bathe your hands in cold or ice water or to apply some type of burn or sting relief cream. Depending on your climate and area those might not have been formic ants because most formic ants in temperate regions hibernate. if they weren't formic ants the irritation might be caused by stingers or hairs left in the skin. you can remove these by covering your hands in a layer of Elmer's school glue and letting it dry. In any case, you should probably ask poison control or a nearby clinic or doctors office.
