I am writing a story and when I write a family's last name without an apostrophe before the s, it says I'm spelling it wrong. Example: The Browns are here, or, The Brown's are here.

or:The apostrophe makes it possessive. The plural is an added s with no apostrophe. Your spell checker is wrong about that.
