Can father get custody of newborn?

Me and my girlfriend separated and she is having our baby in about 3 months we both live with our family but I have a job and am planning on getting a apartment soon she doesn't have a job to support a child and her mother doesn't either she depends on her husband and child support money from my ex girlfriends father and her bedroom is full off fleas and dog urine and her mother has told her in the past that she would punch her in the stomach to force a miscarriage if she ever got pregnant her mother also smokes marijuana and cigarettes in the house she has admitted that the police and department of social services have been at there house because her mother is violent towards her and her siblings and once used her urine to pass a drug test that she was supposed to take I want to have at least 50/50 custody if possible more..I don't want to take the baby away I'm just concerned. And on top of that she has blocked me from contacting her in any type of way so I'm wondering how Will I know when the baby is born and since she can't afford to take care of a baby and the house is not stable will I have to give her child support money every month or could I get custody plz help

or:That is a big issue and if the living conditions are that terrible you have to try fathers u=usually have trouble getting custody f the children it's usually the mothers,but tell them exactly what is going on and tell them straight up you can't let your child move into that enviorment. You should set up a court date for it. I hope this has been helpful to you and you can get custody of your child because if she lives there II think she will turn out bad or end up hurt.
