I'm about to be a senior in high school and got caught shoplifting. I'm suppose to be applying to colleges this first semester but am just curious to see if there's a possibility I won't be able to get in because of it? I know colleges care more about seeing a charge that deals with an assault or drugs but just wanna see how bad this looks to colleges. I'm an average student. I have decent grades, participate in several school activities, and I have a big personality. I'm not some thug, I made an honest mistake and what to begin my life again. My case might be dismissed but I can't get it expunged for two years so just wanna see how this will affect me getting in to a college my first year. Also, could this affect getting a track scholarship? I don't have one now but have thought about working my butt off to reach the times colleges like to see, but would they not want me because of this?
