His father is very disturbed, a pathological liar and has spoken and made comments to the child that are unacceptable and not appropriate for his age.
Child takes phone in his room but calls remain on speaker and we keep an ear out to insure that the call remains appropriate.
The father is aware that speaker is on.

or:I would say only if the child wants to, and if there is anything you hear the father say that's unacceptable end the call. Even if the father is a bad person, it's still important for the boy to have a father figure. However if there are multiple incidences of inappropriate comments it may be time to end having these calls.
