Can you get a tattoo covered up twice?

I got a small tattoo years ago that I loved. A few years afterwards I decided to get an addition to it. The artist, while adding my new design to the old one, coloured over the one I had & made it look awful. Now I have a completely ugly tattoo & I want to get it covered up completely. Is it possible to cover both ugly tattoos at once even though it will be the 3rd coverup for my first one?

or:it is possible but there aren't many people out there who have a talent for covering up tattoos.and there are procedures to remove the tattoo completely as I'm sure you already know but, they are time and money consuming and painful. ask people you know who they think would be a good artist to do that. and don't be afraid to research. i know this is personal but do you mind my asking what the tattoo is of? i am an artist ( not a tattoo artist) and love to come up with designs! i've also helped other people choose what tattoo they should get.i hope this helped. -lisbet

or:Not too personal at all, I appreciate the reply! The first tattoo was a small, orange and yellow butterfly. The second tattoo, the addition, was a skull & the butterfly was coloured over in solid red.. I can't get it removed, it's not even an option for me. I desperately just need it covered.. :/
