or:Communication system consist of transmitter , channel and receiver.For Longer distance transmission modulation is needed.Modulation is the process of modulating the carrier signal (high frequency signal) with respect to message signal. When the signal is transmitted through the channel, signal strength is reduced due to channel noise and interference.If we modulate the signal before transmission, signal strength is increased.So , I think a communication system cannot be without a carrier signal.
