I am kind of confused by Korean culture. I am at a crossroads at college with many different friends from many different cultures, but one of my best (older) friends is Korean. Whenever I say something with (in comparison to them) a youthful naivety however well intentioned, I can expect to get hit by my Korean friend, and sometimes scolded. Is this a common thing in Korea?

or:Without researching Korean culture the easiest answer is this - STOP making the darn comparisons! It doesn't get a good response. How many times does it have to happen before you catch on?!Obviously it's something that upsets your friend...so don't do it! You tell your friend, \"Xxxx, let's do a compromise, from here on out I will stop making comparisons which you may find insulting and you will stop hitting me which I consider unmannerly, let's shake on it.\"Then the two of you continue your friendship on a more mature level.I don't suppose it ever occurred to you to simply ask your friend, \"Did something I say bother you?\"
