Destination Wedding... Apply for a license before we leave - sign the papers when we return?

I'm getting married in Aruba (I'm from Massachusetts), and I've asked my uncle to marry us - I realize he probably can't do that legally in Aruba - which is fine, but if we apply for a license before we leave... Have him perform a small ceremony there... Come back to the states and sign everything with him there, I'm assuming that's legal? Of course his "JOP for a Day" certificate will need an exact date of the ceremony (we'd just pick a day when we return to Boston and do it at the courthouse)... I just don't want to get married BEFORE we leave, and I don't want to go through all the hassles of a wedding abroad (bringing personal information/identification like a certified birth certificate).

Any suggestions? Has anyone done something different?
