Please read the whole story so that you will completely understand what happend. I was hired as a dental receptionist and my job was to schedule as many appointments as possible for my boss. I had missed no days or had any sort of issues as far as how I performed my job prior to this situation that caused me to be fired took place. One day while I was at my desk I was scheduling appointments as usual. My boss's wife who was also my boss too had a habit of being very bitchy and ranting at me while I'm on the phone trying to do my job but this time she took things too far and I had had enough of her horrible attitude! While I was in the middle of leaving a patient a voicemail about his appointment she rudely interrupted me and repeatedly told me to "Hang up the phone right now!" and to never ever call her family again! Turns out the patient that was on my recall list was her nephew but I had spoken with him a few weeks prior and he has asked that I give him a call in two weeks so he could make his appointment so I waited two weeks like he asked of me and gave him a call back. He was unavailable so that's when I proceeded to leave him a quick message and within seconds she was badgering me to get off the phone I attempted to finish the message but she wouldn't let me because she was yelling at me when I was trying to do was MY JOB! I finally just hung up in the middle of my message and I was upset after what she just did to me because I never disrespected her or anyone at work and I didn't deserve that treatment. I was tired of the daily badgering and harassment so I told her what she did was unprofessional, rude, and just uncalled for! I also told her that I was only trying to do my job and that I didn't appreciate her cutting me off and talking to me the way she did! She told me that if I didn't like it that I can get out and don't come back. I grabbed my things and I headed for the door. I just wanted to get out of there. I left and never went back. This is exactly what happend that caused me to be fired I swear, I'm not lying or being dramatic here in case you think there may be more to the story. I filed for Unemployment Benefits until I am able to find another job. Do you think this was misconduct on my part because I know that employers usually claim employee misconduct when they were the real issue at hand and then the employee end up getting denied benefits and I don't want that to happen to me. Thanks for your time!

or:You did not commit any real misconduct. You were, in the technical sense, \"fired for cause.\" This might lead to a denial of benefits, depending on how up-by-the-boot-straps your state unemployment office is. However...Scenario: Let's say your male boss made the decision to hire you. Then, let's say you are younger and more attractive than his wife, and his wife's harassing behavior was based on irrational jealousy arising from perceived feelings of her husband's towards you, feelings which (if they even existed) you were unaware of and never reciprocated. That's sexual discrimination. Sue. Sue 'em hard.

or:Clear misconduct on the part of your boss's wife. Talk to a lawyer.
