Google - Hi, may I know how long it takes to ask for friend's request for someone that we had?

... blocked before? I had a misunderstanding with my friend and as the result, I blocked him. A day after, we managed to solve the feud and be friends again. He asked me to unblock him in order to be friend back in Facebook. However, after the unblocking is done, we can see each other's comments on our previous posts but we can't go to each other's timeline to ask for friend's request. It is almost 8 days that this event had happen. Any reasonable explanation on this matter? Kindly help. Thanks
