Rookie was being assaulted and his attacker has a knife, I tried to intervene and subdue the person but he wouldn't settle down, I have been cut across my forearm and knuckles so in a last ditch effort I punched him knocking him out and from what I'm being told my superiors are worried because he has a black eye...I do not feel that my actions were out of line

or:You should'v stood back, pointed a taser/gun at the suspect, warned him to get down or you'll shoot & called for backup. Hitting suspects is legally considered excessive force by fighting with him instead of doing what you were supposed to & making sure you & everyone stood back & was safe.
