Google - Why does my male cat hiss and growl at his own kittens?

We got two kittens we thought they were both female. when discovered we had a male and a female we booked an appointment for the cats to get neutered

We got two kittens we thought they were both female. when discovered we had a male and a female we booked an appointment for the cats to get neutered and spayed. to our luck the male planted his seed and basically got neutered the next day missed it by a smidgen... anyways we have set up an area for the kittens to grow and the momma to feel comfortable. We kept the male cat away and now the kittens about about 5 weeks old. they are starting to climb on beds and roam around. The male every once in a while will watch the kittens play. When the mother spots this is just roams closer to the kittens. When the female and male make eye contact the female says a soft meow, and the male grows and hisses at her, then runs away. This was the the biggest issue. we play with both cats together and separately. Today the male cat was watching over the kittens and just hissing and growling at them this was new. Is there a way to get him to be nicer to his kittens, or his mate? Everyone sleeps in the same room. the kittens on the floor on one side of the bed kinda like a little cage, and the mother sleeps with them. the father sleeps next to me on the other side of the bed. nothing ever happens at night. only when we are just watching the kittens play.

or:It depends on the cats. I have a female that attacks the daddy and even her own kittens after they are weaned.
