Hair Conditioner - how does it make hair lighter/weigh less?

My hair is typically very thick, full and coarse. Since I began growing long hair and avoiding layers, I have found my hair to be quite heavy and flat

I have recently stared using conditioners and having used it just once - I feel quite a difference in it being lighter in weight and more voluminous.

Curious what constituents/chemical element of hair product generates this effect?

or:It has nothing to do with the conditioner. Most of them are basically shampoos under a different name. What is happening is the molecules of Oxygen is sticking to your hair, making your hair feel lighter. If you want to get the better hair products, ask your local Hairdresser.
