Has anybody had a false negative pee test or do you think I'm just not pregnant?

So on May 16 ,2015 me and my partner started to try and conceive. A week from May 16 i spotted a little, but no period. The last period i got was May 5 , 2015. I have not got my period this month , yet. My period is 2 weeks over due. I took a pregnancy test last week and it came out negative . I took one yesterday and it came out negative. Not sure if its because the dollar store brand i used. I was on the depo shot last year but havent been on it for 8 months now. My period was crazy when i stopped but has been normal for 3 months until this month.
