So I'm stuck on a story I'm writing because the main character got turned into a cat by fooling around with magic. I made a strict point that their was no way to turn her back using the same type of magic that turned her into a cat. Since they story involves exploring different cultures and mythology I figured she'd have to go and find another way to turn back since her magic (Celtic witchcraft) is a no-go. Only problem is that I'm having a really hard time finding stories about regular animals getting turned into humans. I could just make something up but my goal is to stay close to "classic mythology" So any ideas? Magical cures can come from any country though i'm hesitant to use religions that take offense to re-tellings. (I.E. Hinduism is hard to use but Shintoism isn't) Speaking of Japanese Mythology, Bakeneko is out because I'm not willing to have her stuck as a cat for more than a week and that requires years.

or:I know your struggle!!! Have you thought any on the Native Indian Legends? I know that most of the Indian legends are mostly being turned into an animal or deadly creature of some kind. Although, if you have seen the childrens move Brother Bear, he is turned into his totum, the bear, to be taught a lesson. In one part of the movie he is able to turn back into a human but, if I remember correctly, he gives up a life with a girl he loves to be a better brother figure the the cub in bear form. Anyway, my point is, maybe this can be a lesson she needs to learn. By going to a Native American Indian, he can tell her that there is a certain time when the change has to happen and she needs to get the ingedients to make everything when the time comes for the change.--Not trying to impose or change your work at all just some thoughts that popped into my head. I love reading Native American Legends---~~~Fellow Writer~~~
