or:You could try selling your paintings on Etsy, at flea markets or trade shows. You have to get your work out there for people to see so they can want your work. Find a local tourist attraction in your city and paint there. Have completed paintings for people to look at and purchase. Take the money you make a reinvest it right back into your paintings or save it for purchases you may need to make.
