How can I know if I really want something or if I just feel that I SHOULD want that something?

For example lets say that I want to study engineering, but then I think that I am only doing this to please other people and want to study it for othe

or:Hi I guess this happens to most of us all the time . In my opinion the best way to know for sure is to experiment for a while and see if ur into it. For example ,If u wanna do engineering ,but ur not sure ,attend a class and see if ur exited to know more and more about it each day .You could do this for a week may be then see ur enthusiasm after a week .If ur feeling like ehhh, its fine can deal with it just coz i have to then that doesn't look like u are really into this .make sure u are putting an effort into experimenting also .Hope you find what ur searching for .

or:It's a common enough moment in everyone's life to be sure. To find yourself torn in 2 or more directions. Especially earlier in life. As you deal with it more and more, then answers come more quickly and with more certainty. But, and this isn't for everyone, I found these situations to be the beginning of my keeping this half dollar with me everywhere I go. I don't use it for this purpose any longer as I've developed my own sense of where my compass is pointing. However, it's beginnings were born of \"answers for Chance to decide\". So obviously I'm telling you to flip a coin, which sounds dumb, and it is. But in those moments, when I would tell myself, heads it's this, tails it's that, and flip the coin. I learned pretty quick that in watching it go spinning upward and then peak and begin to fall, I could sense myself urging it to be only one of the two when I caught it. That moment when it was about to make a choice for me because I thought I didn't know myself or my direction well enough to decide, is when I'd realize why I never need to flip the coin to begin with. That sense didn't always come, and Chance did have say in more than a few of my conclusive decisions for the road I've walked down. But I still can't look back on any of it and see myself being led anywhere I didn't want to go, pushed into places or following anyone else or anything else than me. Because even the times I did catch and turn the coin to see the answer I didn't have for myself, I made the decision that it would be left up to Chance and that I would follow thru with that decision if and when I didn't find the answer for myself in a moment of clarity. So, my answer to your question, is to flip a coin, and pay attention, but also, to mean it, promise yourself to follow thru with that decision you put to Chance to decide should those being seconds that he coin is airborn go unanswered by your own urges, or needs, wants, hopes, whatever draws out the panicking prayer it will be heads and only heads. If you don't get that feeling, follow thru with the contract and do as chance points you. If you do get that feeling, simply stop, catch the coin and DO NOT LOOK AT IT, put it in your pocket, and know your own answer.
