How can I use my android phone with my car radio?

My brother handed me down his car and the radio in it doesn't have a USB port, but it does have a wire coming out of the back for an iPod or iPhone. Now I do have an iPod. But I like to listen to pandora a lot. I bought a female iphone to a male 3.5 mm headphone thinking this would work. Well I got it in the mail today and it doesn't work. Is there anything else I can do? Any apps maybe? Please help

or:I have Bluetooth in 2 of my vehicles (one built into the HU, and one add-on) and I prefer to use the wired AUX input connection instead.
