Before that, Romans ruled and were extremely powerful. They lived peacefully next to many Germanic tribes. But when Huns from China started to invade the Germanic tribes, these people moved west into Roman lands to escape. This started conflicts. The Germanic people brought their own rules and customs with them and didn't want to accept Roman rule. Eventually, the Romans lost power.
