I am 13 and I really want to join gymnastics. I did gymnastics when I was really little but had to stop. I can do all the basics on most events, and have gone to a couple of open gyms before. I am wanting to take Summer classes and then join Xcel in the fall. My mom seems convinced but my dad on the other hand is not; he is a chiropractor and is worried about my back. I am currently doing competitive rifle shooting but I don't like it that much. My coach says I could be his next Olympian, I want to quit but I don't want to let everyone down. In the past I've done a whole bunch of different sports and quit them, I think the thing holding my parents back is they are worried I will quit gymnastics but I WONT. This is something I REALLY want to do.

or:just ask them. I actually do competitive gymnastics, and I'm a level 7. I think that you should tell your parents that you are really wanting to do something in your free time and want to do gymnastics. don't ask for competing right away just do normal classes without competing and then once they get more comfortable maybe confront your parents and the coach about actually competing.
