How do I get started to build a (seemingly) simple website?

I'm trying to create a website that I can update a status by a tap of a button on my phone.
I'm bringing my brother across the nation for his bachelor party, but unfortunately his soon to be wife is very very cautious of him being okay.
I wanted to create a website in which she can simply go to and it'll read "[My brother] is fine as of [timestamp]."
On my end, I would like to be able to be able to tap "update" on my phone to renew that timestamp to the current time.
What I'm worried about is being able to create something on my end to update the website. I also don't want any sort of design on my website whatsoever, just the centered big text with a white background.
I wouldn't say I don't know any sort of web design but I only know very very basic HTML.
How hard would something like this be?
