Every night, I have the same freaking nightmare, and I can control what I do. I am getting slightly used to it, but it is really freaky. The dream goes as follows:

I wake up in a house full of shadows. I only have a flashlight and an empty back pack, and I am just walking. every now and then, something will jump out at me and try to attack me. the weirdest thing is, I recognize the "something"s. they seem firmiliar. Please help me!! I hate this dream! Every night, a new room gets added to the house, with more terrifying things!

or:This is really interesting. I sometimes experience something similar, although the scenario is different. I have read that our dreams are made up of our subconscious thoughts, feelings, and past experiences. If something seems familiar in a dream its usually because you have seen it before in real life, in some shape or form and your subconscious is trying to bring it up. Some psychologists will tell you this is totally random, and some will say it is purposeful or has meaning. The study of dreaming is becoming more and more popular, but we still do not quite have an accurate understanding of the whole process, or whether dreams have meaning or not. If the dreams are recurring it could be because you have something in your life that you have experienced but have oppressed, and your subconscious wants to bring it up to be dealt with. I would suggest going to a psychiatrist if you want to deal with any underlying issues, or try a new pre-sleep ritual, like something relaxing before bed. Maybe light a candle you like, or take a bubble bath, or read a happy book? Hope this helps!
