My boyfriend lost his father to cancer last week. Although he seems to be coping ok with the situation I am still concerned about his general wellbeing since he has been having depression simptoms due to his father´s illnes. We don´t live together but have an excellent relationship and communicate clearly on a daily basis. Right now I am not quite sure about what to do, I don´t know if I should call him every day just to check on him or if I should let him come to me. I just don´t want to seem neither too intense nor too distant.

or:I would call him every day just to let him know that you love him. Don't make it obvious that you're checking in on him if you fear being overwhelming. Don't bring up the topic unless necessary because my friend struggled with the same and never liked talking about the situation. So, if you must check in on him, don't be too straight forward and don't make it seem like that's what you're doing. But, of course, you should ask him how he's doing often, but not too often. Maybe a couple times a week? If things seem to get worse and starts wearing long sleeves in hot weather or something, you should seek the help of an adult, like a parent or a close guardian.
