How do you get good grades by NOT failing on recent lessons and tests?

My teacher wants me to write at least 2 paragraphs about how to NOT fail on recent lessons and tests. I got an F+ on my recent history tests, about Egyptians, (I'm better at Science, Language Arts, Math, and P.E.). I got the worst grade I could ever get on any stupid old test. Like take today for example, I had a social studies test on the pyramids of Egypt. One of the questions said something like this:
(50 pts.) When did the Egyptians build the Great Pyramid, how many blocks did it take to build one whole pyramid without knocking it down?
Then when I got my test back, I got a C-, and I just shoved it back into my backpack and when I got home, my parents asked me how my test went. They know I'm lying because of the nervousness in my voice. They asked me where my test is. I pulled it out of my backpack and handed it over. The read the red checkmarks and shook their heads with disproval. This is why I really need some helpful tips.
Please give me a few helpful hints. Any stories you'd like to share will be okay as well.
