How long does delirium after surgery usually last? About two weeks ago my dad underwent two surgeries in less than 48 hours as a result of a complication from his initial surgery. He was sedated and in intensive care for a week after the second surgery. When he was brought round he was confused and didn't know where he was. However he recognises everyone and remembers everything before the surgery. Most of the confusion has gone however his personality isn't back to normal. He seems to be a bit distant at times and is easily distracted. Does this usually clear up?
