My friend is going home for fall break and I'm hitching a ride. The trip is 200 miles and the price of gas is about $2 per gallon. I don't know his mileage but was thinking about giving him $20-$25. His girlfriend is also riding in the car but I doubt he expects her to pay gas money. Is $20-25 reasonable?

or:Hello Rodney!I'm afraid your current payment is considerably low...Gas can be a tricky thing to keep track of. Knowing basic algebra, we can calculate that in actuality, you should pay at least $35. Now, being as generous as you are...consider paying him $40 for the trouble.Hope this helped, email me if there are any confusions!Keep up the good work,Mark
