It's interesting and adds a sense of frivility and fun to the occasion. It also allows them to see in depth pictures and it's just a good way to interact with their the meal they will order on it. It's a bit of a distraction in a good way as well, not to mention a conversation starter and a kind of ice breaker. Some people are anxious about announcing their meal choice to the waiter as well so that's good. Also theyre the worry about offending the waiters by raising your hand and the awkward trying to get their attention without being too obvious. It allows for a more private meal time with your gathering. It's nice to have the choice!---------------edit---------I just read the question again and I think you mean a mobile restaurant app not necessarily a whole app ordering system. Well in this case just having an app is cool. I mean if I really loves the place and it was a hang out for me and my friends I might download it. Perhaps people could reserve tables or check prices, see new dishes etc. you could advertise in your restaurant a 5% off off they download the app (the app could reveal a coupon code upon inatallation) and then try to draw them back as repeat customers with enticing pictures and daily events ( Friday wings, Tuesday burgers etc). It would serve them by giving them a dramatic preview of your menu.
