How to introduce my dog to my cat?

I have a 4 year old dog and a 9 years old cat. They live separately at home, in separate quarters with vigilant door closing between them. But now we are moving to a new home where this separation is not possible! I have to find a way to introduce them and have them live relatively peacefully together! I have another cat (6 years old) that doesn't like animals!! So she is having the prime means of separation from both my cat and my dog in the new home!! Any suggestions??

or:well i would introduce them a little bit at a time cause if you don't and it causes alot of undue fighting its probably better to introduce then a bit at a time but it might not be the thing you can do you might have to put them both out there and see what happens
