I am completely unaware what music is popular among the American youth in their twenties. So I always feel awkward when I have a conversation with Americans when they start talking about music. What bands/musician should I check out?

or:If you want true culture, listen to jazz. Snarky Puppy is a band that is good. If you want to listen to music that everyone likes, listen to iTunes top 40, or dance hits.

or:You question is a little vague because different states and areas of America have different styles that are popular to them. Just like in the state itself some areas might like different things than an area acouple of conties away. I would recommend checking out a variety of different music styles by going to different venues and different concerts in your area or surrounding areas. I myself am from Michigan and Michigan is known for being one of the top states for local and underground bands, especially in cities like Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Flushing, and Detroit. I go to a lot of underground concerts in those towns. The types of concerts where you only pay 10 to 20 dollars to get in, you get 3 to 4 bands, and the music goes on from 8 at night to 2 in the morning. Some of the bands turn out to be good, some dont. It's the adventure that matters. Some bands that I hear from these types of concerts that I liked and would recommend are...1.Ov Bellum 2.Gravity3.Legend Scroll4.Pick Axe Preacher 5.Greta Van Fleet6.Miles Beyond All of these are Michigan based bands and are truly awesome, epic shows. All of them are on youtube with the maybe exception with gravity. But all of them are great and I would recommend checking these bands out.
