I have a old single shit 12g shotgun with a swing release behind the hammer. ON the top of the barrel is where the name is that the best i can read, as the bottom of letters are worn, says "fnhtne" armory "stefl". On the left side of action it says SPECIAL and a marking "12" then a diamond with a C inside. ON the bottom of action behind the trigger is the serial number. It has diamond shape carvings on the fore grip and the but stock. ANY HELP with the name, age, value etc would be greatly appreciated.

or:Sounds like one of ancient ones barrel made from twisted wire & if so modern ammo will blow it up in your face as wires become un-twisted.Look for very fine twist lines in barrel. If so was made for black powder. Can't remember but think was made in Mass in 1800's.Yes it may be worth much for a gun collector.lines will be hard to see,use strong mag glass.Modern barrels are made by a special forge.I once helped make them in Ithaca Gun Works.A gun repair shop in bus for over 50yrs prob can tell you more.try web to find one.
