I have an AA degree do I have to take basic college courses?

I am transferring to a private college for a BA in film.The school wants me to pay to take general college classes, college math, and writing. The college requirements in 2006 I did not have to take a creative writing or college level math for those degrees. So if I have those two degrees do I have to take creative writing and college math? I ask because its $600 a class.

or:It sounds like you will. Transferring of credits is almost always up to the discretion of the school (especially a private school) and it sounds like you don't even have the credits. So unfortunately you'll probably have to take them (though you can always dispute it with your admissions officer, I don't think you'll be successful in this situation).
