I obtained a Liberal Arts and Fine Arts Associates in 2006 with 120 college credits earned. I am transferring to a private college for a BA in film. The school wants me to pay to take general college classes, college math, and writing. The college requirements in 2006 I did not have to take a creative writing or college level math for those degrees. So if I have those two degrees do I have to take creative writing and college math? I ask because its $600 a class.

or:\"Will My Previously Earned Credits Transfer? As Jon Fortenbury of USA Today\u2019s College Choice explains, transferring previously earned college credits depends entirely upon the receiving institution. Usually, a school will place limits on the maximum age allowed of credits being transferred, as well as how many of these assets you bring with you.\"It depends on how long ago and what basics are required for the degree you want. It also depends if the school you went to was accredited.Just because you earned credits doesn't mean they have anything to do with the field of work you are aiming for.

or:Yeah, you'll have to take what they tell you to. You should have credits that transfer from your AA degree, but that doesn't mean that meets all the requirements for graduation and earning a degree at the four year school. Search around online for something called \"matriculation agreement\" between the two schools and that can help you understand what transfers and how.

or:It sounds like you will. Transferring of credits is almost always up to the discretion of the school (especially a private school) and it sounds like you don't even have the credits. So unfortunately you'll probably have to take them (though you can always dispute it with your admissions officer, I don't think you'll be successful in this situation). Congrats on getting into the college at least.
