I have been told, where I now rent, that the odor is on my belongings. Need suggestions on how to get rid of this odor. I cannot dispose of what I own, especially my clothing. I do not have money to buy new clothes or any other belongings I owned.

or:Clothes are easy to treat: use vinegar for softener in the washing machine. You should be doing that all the time anyway because vinegar dissolves the last of the laundry soap, and commercial softeners don't have anything you really need. Other items that don't take kindly to the liquid can be wiped with vinegar or bagged and exposed to vinegar fumes for a while. Not books, ok? The paper does not like the acid.
