or:They were most probably corticosteroid (cortisone) injections. Corticosteroids are powerful anti-inflammatory medications. The doctors don't want to administer too much cortisone into the same area of a joint as the more cortisone your body receives the more side effects you could have, so the doctor most probably tried to give you less and hoping it would help. Have you tried physical therapy instead? There might be other options for you to try to make your knee feel better.
