I live in NY which has a closed primary coming up that I greatly want to participate in... yet to do so I would have to register with that party. I don't know if it would be hypocritical of me to join a party just to vote for my preferred candidate or if I should do it anyway? Thoughts?

or:I don't think it's hypocritical, vote for the person you want who will represent your views. In four years just change parties again if the candidate doesn't represent your views.
