If I message someone on Facebook with no mutual friends, what happens to my message?

However, I also added this person as a friend at the same time I messaged him, and he's accepted my friend request, but the message hasn't shown that it's been delivered (only a white tick, not a blue tick). Will the message still be in his "requests" folder, even though we are now friends?

or:If the message has been sent before you have added this person the message should not deliver to general message queue. It will stay in requests until your friend visits request queue. The best option is to resend this message once more.
