If I "quit my job will my disability benefits stop?

My doctor put me on disability in april. I was getting sick every day at work getting out early barely working. I didn't know it was going to last this long or be this bad!! My job is being put on hold. I don't think i can go back to that job due to my health condition it would only make it worse. My question is if i tell my job to stop holding my job "quit" will i lose my disability benefits. I really need the money for bills dr apointments and medicine. I am in california.

or:Disability benefits are actually for people who can't work. (I would know; I'm one of those.) So, quitting your job should not cause your benefits to end. They might even go up, slightly.
