If I want to be an army medic do I have to have a weapon ?

I recently saw the movie hacksaw ridge and I completely agree with Desmond doss's reasoning to not carry a gun and I want to help save life's but I don't want to hold a gun. Is this possible?

or:Yes ofcourse you can save lives! And in a very exciting way too, as.....a paramedic! These great prople probably get to see so much action in a day, youd probably get a great sense of fulfillment from a job like this. Theyre duty is to be the first responder to catastrophes like you woukd have seen in the war. I imagine that being an army medic would not be as exciting as it was when there were wars, but being a medic as a para-medic would give you the same duties as they had back then.
