Is it fair for my baby to have my last name?

..I have a bit of a problem at the moment, well it all started a couple of month ago. I'm 17 and I got pregnant with my boyfriend at the time, we weren't together quite long but we decided to keep it. Then not long after it started to come out that he had a horrible side, I've knew him since childhood so I didn't think he was like this. He moved in with me because he didn't have a stable home at the time and he started taking drugs outside of mine, quite heavy drugs and started being very horrible to me. Calling me names and being very verbally abusive. We split up and now I'm 5 months pregnant, I've decided to keep the baby and he knows and wants to be there, which is fine. But I do not want my child to have his last name, the way he is reacting is disgusting. Accusing me that it's not his and says won't have any connection with the baby if it has my last name, he's a very angry person and I will stand by the child having my last name. Is this fair?

or:You can give your baby your last name,believe me.I've got my mothers last name,had it for 40 years now..I would not want the last name of the man who fathered me. He was the worst of the worst... my sister had the last name of her father but he was my mother's first husband, but also another awful guy.
