I work as a teppanyaki chef in the USA for a flat $10 per hour and no tips. Instead of receiving our due tips at the end of the night, my boss takes a percent of the entire restaurant tips and puts it into the chef's payroll account. The idea is to ensure that the chefs receive a "steady, decent wage" instead of having to rely on tips. Is this legal? I don't feel it should be justifiable to use the restaurant tips to put into the payroll account, especially when the chefs are only making $10 per hour.

or:well it can be legal if it was in your hireing package it would have to be in that introduction as to the paperwork you signed it would have been in there if it was legal but it would have to be in the paperwork when you got hired for it to even be legal if not hes probably not doing right and its not fair to the employees who work for the restaurant

or:Exactly it is not legal but, it depends on the contract you signed when you were hired and you signed that contract. If it was mentioned in that contract then he can use a percent of your tip into payroll account.
