I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend for 6 years now. He is the only partner I have ever had. I'm extremely happy with him but I'm curious as to whether or not it's OK to have never had previous relationships. I hear from all sorts of people that it's good to have gone through a few as they offer more experience for managing future problems or being able to "taste" different types until you find the one you truly like. I'm not planning on leaving him though.

If you are a teenager and this is your first relationship (congratulations!) then the odds are against you. There, indeed, are high school couples who marry and go the distance. It's just that they are a very small percentage because its very difficult and the majority of the relationships generally fall apart before the 10th wedding anniversary.If you are older your chances of staying together increase.Do you need prior relationships to make one work?
