Is it okay to get someone a ring that is a half size bigger than their finger?

or:i think half sizes give a little more room to fit the persons hand it kinda gives the ring a more comfortable fit when putting it on so would that be one half the size then the normal size of the ring for example if he wears a 10 would the ring be 10 and a half thats what i picked up from the question you asked i would think the extra half a size would be a good idea
