In high school, I didnt do any extra-curriculars and didn't care or pay attention in class, leaving my gpa at only 3.7 or so. I have since had a wake up call, joined the Air Force, and got my life back together. It's my dream to go to Medical School at Yale University in Connecticut after my enlistment. Contrary to my high school grades, I'm actually very intelligent. If I achieve high grades (4.0+) while pursuing my bachelors, can extra-curriculars be achieved through events in the military (sports teams, organizing charities, etc), or will my high school past ruin all chances to be accepted? Is there anything I can do to make my application reviewable/competitive? I need all the information you can give, thank you in advance!

or:Med school will not look past your grades in college. If you feel you can't get into the university you want to go to then go to community college. High school people might look down on community college but universities don't and it is a LOT less expensive. Transfer to a university after community college, do well, then go on to medical school. I have a master's degree and just retired as a college teacher and that's what I did but I screwed up high school grades considerably worse than you did.
