Is it rude to ask for a plus one at a wedding?

My friends wedding is on New Years Eve and I have been told that there are no plus ones. I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years and we live together, were also buying a house together. I would not mind going alone except the wedding is on NYE and I really do not want to celebrate it without my boyfriend. Would it be rude to ask if he can attend? Also my parents told me I can decline the invitation. I am nervous that she will not take the decline well.

or:I fully agree with Milander. SHE was rude when she did not extend the invitation to your partner. If I were you, I would seriously doubt this friendship. I would simply say 'no, thanks' and cease thinking of what her feelings are. However, let's not exclude the possibility of an error. Weddings can be stressfull and complete control is hard to achieve. If you really believe that she is your friend, just talk to her to see if that was not a mistake. If she tries to find excuses but aknowledge the invitation, then forget about her.
